Elvis’ Bible goes to auction as Bible takes centrestage in new American game show

A bit of fun for the weekend:

King of Pop’s Bible goes to auction
The Bible has been hard at work in America this week. Preparations have begun for the auction of a Bible belonging to Elvis, up for grabs on September 8 at an auction in Stockport, Ohio.

The Bible, embossed in gold on a leather cover, contains annotations by the King of Pop, and will be sold to mark the 35th anniversary of his death. It is expected to fetch over AU$30,000.

Bible takes centre stage in new American game show
How much Bible trivia do you know? A game show channel in the United States will launch The American Bible Challenge next week, complete with giant Bible flipping, drama and all the ‘game show cheese’ you can handle.

Labelled a “battle of Biblical proportions”, teams of contestants compete for funding for their chosen charity or ministry.

While the concept video certainly got our team giggling this week, it also got us thinking – just how much Bible trivia do Australians really know? Want to test your knowledge? Here’s a quick quiz.

The show aims to celebrate the Bible and incorporate it into contemporary life, according to host Jeff Foxworthy.

“There’s so many everyday expressions that are actually Biblical in nature – like ‘writing on the wall’. Where did that come from? It was Daniel interpreting the dream. I want to explore how much the audience really knows. Let’s bring it out to light – let’s talk about it.”
