Andrew “Fishtail” Fisher driver of the Jesus Racing ute placed 5th overall in the V8 Ute series at the weekend’s V8 Supercar Bathurst 1000 at Mount Panorama.

Sporting it’s iconic Jesus branding, the Jesus Racing ute raced around the mountain in race 3 on Sunday morning, just prior to the 1000km V8 Supercar main event.

Andrew “Fishtail” Fisher goes from high speed racing to chatting to thousands of high school students about life choices.

“The Jesus Ute had earned position 8 on the grid after finishing 3rd in race 1 and 12th in the reverse grid race 2. With Fishtail at the wheel the Jesus ute powered away brilliantly from the line, making up a number of positions in the first few turns” said Shane Strong, operations manager for Jesus Racing.

“Craig Dontas, pulling up alongside Fishtail, out braked himself going into turn one, hitting and spinning fellow driver Jessie Dixon. But with lightning reflexes, Fishtail took to the grass and avoided Dontas.”

Fishtail told supporters that he was proud of the great 5th place result. “I’d like to thank the boys for their hard work. It’s great to come to this place and have a good showing, not only on the race track and TV coverage, but being in the middle of the paddock, and bringing the name of Jesus…to race fans,” he said.

While most race car drivers will be resting up today, Fishtail will take his replica race car and head west to speak to almost 2,000 high school students in New South Wales’ Canonwindra, Orange, Parkes, Forbes and Dubbo, finishing up with ‘Men and Machines’ events expected to attract over 5,000 people in Campbelltown in southwest Sydney.

After each series round, Fishtail takes the Jesus Racing “Life Choices” presentation to young people across Australia, speaking about drugs, teen sex, smoking, road safety and faith and challenging students to consider the consequences of the choices they make.
