Bear Grylls and Jesus Racing team up for Alpha

Two Christian men who live life on the edge and use their high profile to help others have teamed up to promote Alpha, a course to explore Christianity. UK action adventurer Bear Grylls and Australian race driver Andrew “Fishtail” Fisher are both Ambassadors for the well-known course which helps people explore Christianity.

Fisher, the face of the Jesus Racing team, has now placed Gryll’s “I did Alpha” ad on the tailgate of his replica racing ute. He hopes to do the same for the actual race car, and is looking for someone to sponsor the promotion. It’s an opportunity to project the Alpha ad to 1.4 million people at Australian race tracks and to 58 million people worldwide.

Fisher describes the Jesus Racing-Grylls-Alpha tie-up as a major coup, and says he’d like to take Grylls for a Hot Lap next time the adventurer is in Australia. “Bear is a global sensation – one of the biggest brand names on the planet – and what he stands for aligns perfectly with our purpose,” Fisher says.

“Fishtail” is no stranger to celebrity himself, and has used his fame to publicly share his faith. He’s a big hit with the 30,000 or so high school students he sees each year through “Life Choices,” a Bible Society programme aimed at helping young people make ‘courageous decisions’.

He’s already been a supporter of the Alpha course for some time, promoting it at his school presentations as well as in the Jesus Racing special edition Gospel of Luke.

Shane Strong, Jesus Racing Operations Manager, says the replica racing ute with the Alpha ad has been taken to school presentations in the past couple of weeks. It had quite a reaction from some students who were about to take the Alpha course.

“We love what the Alpha course does,  helping those just coming into the faith,” says Strong.

“It challenges people, just like Andrew does through Jesus Racing. He challenges them to live.  After all, Jesus came that we may have life… life to the full!”
