A Muslim Man has declared he will “bring a terrible end to the blasphemer Asia Bibi” in a video, reports the British Pakistani Christian Association.
The BPCA has been closely linked with and supportive of Bibi who has fled to Canada from Pakistan having spent about nine years on death row, accused of blasphemy.
BPCA chairman Wilson Chowdhry commented that it is unknown whether the threat made in the video is genuine or not. “However the fact that the video exists is a chilling concern,” said Chowdhry.
Available to view on the BPCA site, the video shows only the torso of a man who professes: “I am ready to die for respect of the Prophet Muhammad and I will show that.”
The anonymous man also said he has arrived in Canada, the country revealed last week as where Bibi has been safely moved to. Her death sentence was overturned late last year and her acquittal upheld by Pakistan’s Supreme Court earlier this year. But it took several months for Bibi to be able to leave Pakistan, with death threats, public protests and school closures occurring following her acquittal.
The man in the video said his warning was to “all the enemies of Islam and to the Jew Government who helped her get out of Pakistan.”
“To stop this act and to give Asia a terrible death and to send her to hell I have also reached Canada last night.
“I will make sure to bring a terrible end to the blasphemer Asia Bibi.”
According to Chowdhry, “Pakistan has been relatively silent since the release of Asia Bibi but international security agencies must not get complacent.
“Her release is a real bone of contention with the millions of radicalized Muslims across the globe who are waiting for an opportunity to assassinate Asia Bibi, or a mass terrorist strike in revenge for what they see as a perceived blasphemy.”
Chowdhry explained that BPCA has “informed American, British, Canadian and Pakistani officials of fear for Asia Bibi’s safety and many other innocents who will be targeted because of hatred for her.”
