The world’s most popular Bible App is getting a makeover thanks to Bible Society Australia.
To mark 200 years of the good book in Australia, YouVersion is offering Aussie users of the Bible App a chance to join the celebrations by signing up for customised daily devotions.
CEO of Bible Society Australia, Greg Clarke, has written a few short devotions on the impact of the Bible on Australia from the foundation of the Society right up to today.
Greg tells us of Elizabeth Macquarie, the wife of the Governor and a devout believer, who was so moved by the plight of so many of the poor around her, often destitute but also without hope and direction, that she recognised their need for both practical help and spiritual sustenance, and so helped launch the Bible Society to reach out to them.

The Bible reading plan will also be spruiked on YouVersion’s monthly email. This new partnership between YouVersion and Bible Society will enable more people to access the Bible on their phones and tablets, bringing God’s word closer to everyday Aussies.
In another exciting development, to celebrate Bible Society’s 200 years, YouVersion is giving you the opportunity to personalise your Bible App with a bicentenary theme. This will deliver to you the latest messages from Bible Society Australia, as well as offering a selection of Bible devotions published by Bible Society, to help you engage with the word of God.

In late 2016, Youversion announced that the Bible App surpassed a record 250 million downloads around the world. Life.Church Innovation Pastor and YouVersion Bible App founder Bobby Gruenewald said: “We are humbled by how many people use the Bible App on a regular basis. When we decided to make the Bible available as an app, we never could have imagined how much it would revolutionise the way people engage with Scripture.”
The Bible App was one of the first 200 apps in Apple’s App Store debut eight years ago.
