Father of three children killed by alleged drunk driver has a word of hope

UPDATE And their mother forgives the driver

Danny Abdallah has paid tribute to three of his six children, Antony, 13, Angelina, 12, and Sienna, 8, who were killed by a driver who mounted a footpath in Oatlands, Sydney on Saturday.

“Anthony’s 13. Very handsome boy,” Mr Abdallah told a press conference.

“Angelina she was my, MLH, my little helper. Anything I needed she had my back.
“Sienna, she was my little diva, little actress.”

Then he added. “They have gone to a better place.”

The Abdallah family are Maronite Catholics.

The Abdallah children are shown Sienna, Antony and Angeline left to right.

A cousin, 11-year-old Veronique Sakr was the fourth child killed in the accident as the children walked along the Bettington Road footpath. Three others, all related, were injured.

The Abdallah children attended local Anglican Schools, the Kings School for Anthony, and Tara for his sisters, according to Nine media. Veronique Sakr was a student at Santa Sabina College in Strathfield.

UPDATE: the Sydney Morning Herald reports that while visiting the scene of the tragedy the mother of the three siblings that were killed, Leila Abdallah “forgave” the driver.

“‘The guy, I know he was [allegedly] drunk, driving on this street. Right now I can’t hate him. I don’t want to see him, [but] I don’t hate him.

“‘I think in my heart to forgive him, but I want the court to be fair. It’s all about fairness. I’m not going to hate him, because that’s not who we are,’ she said to reporters.”
